Blaming others

I just had to chuckle the other day. I drive our 40 passenger bus for our church and one Wednesday night when we were loaded to the max I was constantly reminding some of the students they must remain in their seats. Finally after reminding them for more than half a dozen times I took away the most desired Jesus jewels. As one girl was exiting the bus she made sure that I knew she was not too happy with me taking her Jesus Jewels. I stopped her before she could get off the bus and asked her what she was upset about. She told me she was upset that I would take her Jesus Jewels. I replied to her that she shouldn't be mad at me because she failed to follow the expectations. I then reminded her it would be silly to be upset with me when she was the one that actually broke the rules. After looking puzzled for a minute, she then smiled and left the bus somewhat feeling silly but was obviously revelling in the realization that for her to not be upset all she had to do was follow the expectations set for her when riding the bus.

Wouldn't the world be great if we could get them to realize they don't have to worry about God and His wrath coming down on them on the day of judgment if they just be obedient to Him? Think about it! From the days of Adam, people have been mad at God and tried to find ways to blame God for their troubles. As God confronts Adam about eating from the tree (Genesis 3:11-12) Adam goes right into blaming God for his short fall by replying it was the woman You gave me... How many times have we heard that in life today. Reasons why someone has done what they have done being because of someone elses actions first. In the end, as God will hold us all accountable for, the decision was made by YOU and you alone. We won't be able to pull an Adam on judgment day and blame anyone for any of our shortfalls, but I am sure there will be many of us that will respond much like the little girl on my bus and will be mad at God for holding us accountable. Perhaps we can be as bright as this little girl as well and realize that the best way to keep ourselves out of such a situation is simply to be obedient to God. He's really a loving and compassionate God, it's your decision on whether you want to find it out or not.

Blessings to you!
